The opportunity
Delaware North Australia is hiring a casual Kitchenhand to join our team at Melbourne Airport. This role combines responsibilities of both a Sandwich Hand and a Kitchenhand, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced kitchen environment and enjoys variety in their day-to-day tasks.
You’ll be crafting an array of fresh sandwiches while also supporting broader kitchen operations – ensuring cleanliness, order and efficiency in the back-of-house. Apply today and become part of a team delivering a first-class dining experience.

What will you do?
- Prepare and assemble sandwiches, wraps, salads and other grab-and-go items to a high standard of quality, presentation and hygiene
- Ensure the freshness of ingredients and follow portion control and food safety guidelines
- Maintain consistent cleanliness and hygiene across all food preparation and kitchen areas
- Perform temperature checks and manage cross-contamination in line with WHS and Food Safety standards

Support chefs with basic food prep tasks such as chopping, portioning ingredients, and preparing items ahead of service
- Assist with general kitchen operations including dishwashing, sanitising equipment and cleaning workstations
- Take ownership of cleaning duties including floors, dishes, equipment and waste management, using commercial dishwashers and cleaning chemicals safely
- Handle stock rotation, unpack deliveries and keep kitchen supplies well maintained
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient service during peak periods
More about you
- Previous experience in a sandwich hand or kitchenhand role is preferred
- Food Safety Certificate
- Passion and enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible availability across a 7-day roster, with the majority of shifts starting early in the morning
