Chip, Housing: Being able to work in an area where you get to get out and explore nature, and parts of the country that people come from all over to see, I get to work here.

Walter, Cook: And they take such good care of us. Your rent and your room and board, your meals are included. You cannot do that.

Sue, Retail: We’re here in this beautiful park, and we do, we get paid for being here that other people come and pay to be here. But we get paid to be here.

Logan, Dining Room Supervisor: Every day when you wake up and you walk out the front door you see the national park because it’s only a little three minutes’ walk through perfect, beautiful nature, and you can’t really beat that.

Niurka, General Manager: Here at Shenandoah we have three lodging properties. Big Meadows and Skyland both have restaurants that serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We also have tap rooms, desk areas. We also have horseback riding, we have rappelling trips, we also have a lot of hiking trails.

Don, Bartender: I like to hike and walk and go just get fresh air because the air is so fresh.

Jessica, Housekeeping: We have a trail right here called Stoney Man. It’s my favorite trail to hike. You can see all of the Shenandoah Valley. I’m not an inside person; I like top be outside and on our property. Most of our rooms require us to be outside.

Don, Bartender: Hospitality is like a gateway to people because food is a language without, you know, the words.

Niurka, General Manager: So we do have a huge base of local employees that come and work that are part of the history of Shenandoah, as they are, some of them direct descendants of people that used to live in the mountains before it was a national park. We also bring in a lot of international employees.

Samantha, Server: So I’m a native of the Valley, so I get up here on the mountain, it’s just a perfect location for a great career. I’m enlightened with all the beautiful nature around us and the people that I get to meet all over the world. Not just from this continent but from all over the world, really make the day go by.

Chris, Maintenance: This is like one big family here. We help each other out.

Niurka, General Manager: We always say we are a yes culture, not only for the guests, but also for our employees. We always try and accommodate what they need so they can be here for us when we need them.

Lori, Retail: In the gift shop, anywhere up here you feel appreciated by your managers and your management team.

Walter, Cook: And there’s so much I have not seen, and Delaware Noth provides that avenue. You know, I go to Australia and New Zealand. I can go over the country. I will be in Yosemite next year.

Logan, Dining Room Supervisor: Now I have the promotion so I’ll be able to transfer because I really want to go to the Grand Canyon next year so I’ll be able to transfer as a supervisor and continue top gain experience and see the world with Delaware North.

Sue, Retail: Just if someone hasn’t worked here or been here to visit they don’t know what they’re missing.
